Markco’s Epic Lecture on Diablo 3
Diablo 3 is destined to become a console game. In many ways, it was designed to be adapted to consoles with the large buttons, massive hit boxes on enemies, and limited number of hot keys. Moving inventory around might be a bit of a pain, and targeting specific enemies while moving tricky, but in the end it could be a successful console game. The question, once you accept the fact that Diablo 3 is coming to consoles, becomes how will the RMAH be implemented?
Come on now, the RMAH has been the primary concern for Blizzard since Diablo 3 was announced. It drives every decision because it also funds every decision that Blizzard’s Diablo 3 team makes. My guess is that the game will go to Xbox Live, with its Microsoft points as the primary currency. You will also be able to cashout to paypal, which can already be used to purchased Xbox Live time. I could definitely see all three options being available.
Now, for the second biggest question regarding Diablo 3 coming to consoles… Will the auction houses on the PC version sync with their console cousins? I’m thinking the answer is no. So the release on consoles should have limited to no impact on the PC version of the game that we play today. However, watch out for changes made to both versions of the game in order to cater to the console players!
